James Suckling awards 5 Bohigas wines and cavas

American wine critic James Suckling has once again awarded several Bohigas products with high scores. Each year, Suckling and his team taste over 40,000 wines, resulting in one of the largest blind tastings in the world.

In this year’s edition, four Bohigas cavas and two wines were awarded, with excellent scores and the following comments from James Suckling and his team.

91 points. CAVA BOHIGAS EXTRA BRUT GRAN RESERVA

Tasting notes:
A well-made Cava that’s fresh and tangy, with aromas of brioche, yeast, white fruit and a touch of blanched almonds. Generous but linear and streamlined on the palate, with fine beads, good acidity and a medium-long finish. Xarel-lo, macabeu and parellada. Drink now.

90 points. CAVA NOA DE BOHIGAS

Tasting notes:
This acid-driven Cava made from pinot noir and xarel·lo shows warm bread, lemon zest, green apples and brioche, on the nose. The bubbles are quite fine and delicate, and the acidity
is sharp and refreshing, followed by an elegant but lengthy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now

90 points. WHITE WINE UDINA DE BOHIGAS

Tasting notes:
A classic garnacha blanca that is floral and aromatic, showing notes of honeysuckle, dried peaches and spices. It has a medium to full body, with a round, creamy mid-palate, mediumlow acidity and a medium-length finish. A hint of bitter Mediterranean herbs lingers at the end. Drink now.
