Making
Can Macià estate Can Macià is located in the privileged surroundings of the Anoia river basin in Òdena (Barcelona), with more than 35 hectares of flat land and a Continental-Mediterranean climate. For more than eight centuries the family has cultivated its vines under the influence of the Anoia river, respecting the soil and seeking a way to express themselves through the best adapted grape varieties. With a clayey calcareous soil, similar to the area of Bages, with high temperature variations between day and night and very low rainfall, the estate in Òdena gives a very low yield production with high acidity and slow but complete ripening that make this land an ideal area for obtaining high quality cava base wines. |
Can Batllevell estate The Can Macià estate, includes the estate of Can Batllevell, also belonging to the Bohigas family, with 30 hectares of vineyard and more than 50 years of history. Can Batllevell is located in Gelida (Barcelona), in a high quality area for the production of still wines and highly adaptable red varieties as Red Grenache or White Grenache. A soil with a high lime content, in conjunction with the Mediterranean climate and early ripening, gives the wines a sensation of structure and gentleness on the palate. |
Varieties
The two estates have native varieties of Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada (some vines being more than 50 years old) and Sumoll, as well as more modern Mediterranean varieties of more recent plantation, such as White Grenache or Red Grenache. There are even some foreign varieties that better adapt to our soil: the Chardonnay or Pinot Noir.
The different qualitative development of the grapes on the two estates enables selecting the best grape varieties and qualities for each type of product.
